I am from 30th NDA course and joined the Gunners on 11 June 1967. I have served in 62 Fd Regt (Chakki Bank), 78 Med Regt, 76 Med Regt (1971 Operations - DBN sector), 169 Mtn Regt (Kargil and Poonch) and commanded 79 Med Regt (Nathu La sector: 1987-1990). I commanded 18 Arty Bde (1995-96) and 1 Corps Arty Bde (1997).

I did LGSC (fd) in 1973-74, DSSC (1981), Instructors course on FH77 in Sweden (1987) and LDMC (1990-91). I had two tenures as an IG at School of Arty (1974-77 and 1986) and two tenures as DS in Senior Command Wing at College of Combat (1990 and 1991-92). I was Col Q Ops in HQ Southern Command during 1993-94 when massive troop mobilization had to be organized following communal riots.

I served as Editor of Artillery Journal for the 1987 issue. I had the privilege of conducting interviews with Bharat Ratan JRD Tata and Mr. NA Palkhivala in December 1991 for a motivational film for the Army "Pause to Ponder - Ethics Values and Soldier" that I helped produce, script and anchor while serving at the College of Combat. .

I had to seek early retirement in 1997 following a paralytic stroke sustained by my wife, in order to bring her to USA where our two children were studying. I completed my PhD in Strategy and International Management from the University of Texas at Dallas during 1998-2001. Since then I have been a Professor in USA and currently teach at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
